Need to make some great displays for your store? Here are a few things to consider when putting together displays:
• Decide on a theme
Always be sure that a display isn’t just a random grouping of stuff that you’re trying to get people to buy. Find products that fit together like a kitchen display with mixing bowls, recipe books, and specialty foods. Add a little unpredictability with some greeting cards in case they are buying the item as a gift. Small surprises in displays will help you in getting your customers to add to their purchases.
• Have a focal point.
Displays need to grab people’s attention and having a prominent product, one that is either large or brightly colored, will help to create interest in the entire display. Because customers may be looking at the product from a distance, smaller details or items will be lost, so having a large stand-out product will help catch their eye. Can’t find a product that screams for attention? Even a brightly colored sign or piece of fabric will do the trick.
• Use contrasting colors to help product stand out.
Grouping items together in contrasting colors can make a strong statement. Product needs to stand out and blending in with the surroundings creates a display that customers will walk right past.
